Open Arms in Venezuela

Open Arms sent a team to Venezuela after the earthquake that struck the north of the country on 24 June, to assess the damage and identify possible ways to collaborate with local organizations.

After several days on the ground, we launched our first support project: providing logistical assistance, accommodation and meals to groups of Venezuelan rescuers and to the Los Topos rescue team from Mexico, so they can focus on searching for victims under the rubble and assisting those affected.

After several weeks of search efforts, the emergency is now entering a second phase: strengthening local communities and those who are already caring for, sheltering and protecting the affected population.

When emergency strikes, civil society responds.
