An educational project that emerged from our experience at sea. It seeks to give a voice to those we have rescued and through these voices work on human rights, empathy and critical thinking among school communities.

Origin

Origin

The stories of torture, abuse and violations of the rights from along the way of those we rescue in the Mediterranean make us realise that once at sea, there is no solution. For this reason, we work in West Africa through training and sensitisation to empower these communities of origin.

Faced with the COVID-19 health emergency, our crews were confined at the port while the repairs onboard the Open Arms continued. However, our mission is to protect life whether at sea or on land, so we didn’t sit still and instead focused our help towards the most vulnerable people in this pandemic, the elderly.

Lesbos, Greece

In early September 2015 we decided to move to the island of Lesbos to help the refugees who arrived in the Greek coast. We started there and now we are in the Mediterranean sea and at the places of origin of these journeys, because we will not leave while we are still necessary.
