The situation in Cabo Delgado, on the northern coast of Mozambique, is critical according to UNHCR. Since 2017, they have suffered continuous indiscriminate attacks by armed groups affiliated with the Islamic State, which have devastated villages, tortured, raped, and killed their communities.More than 2,800 people have lost their lives because of the attacks, and 730,000 Mozambicans from this region have left their land. All of this, in a situation aggravated by chronic poverty, consecutive climate crises, and recurring disease outbreaks.
In an attempt to alleviate the serious humanitarian crisis, in 2021 We sent 33 tons of food together with Solidaire. The shipments were delivered to Caritas Mozambique and consisted of legumes, canned fish, rice, and sunflower oil. The shipment was delivered on a Solidaire Boeing 787, which landed in Nacala, Mozambique, with support from the logistics company Transjunior.
