CONFLICTS
ISRAEL – PALESTINE
If you believe that in the face of war, the lives of the most vulnerable must be protected, you are one of us.
CONTEXT
The genocide committed by Israel against Palestine has its roots in 20th-century history. Since its arrival in the region, Israel has gradually occupied Palestinian land, leading to the increasing control of areas such as the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza today. Territorial and religious disputes, along with the region’s geopolitical dynamics, have entrenched the conflict to this day.
Israeli settlements, outbreaks of violence, and political instability have led to a severe deterioration in living conditions in Gaza and the West Bank. Israel’s overwhelming military power, supported by the United States, and Palestine’s inability to engage in open warfare, have contributed to the rise of terrorist groups such as Hamas, which carry out attacks against Israel.
In this context, in October 2023 the conflict saw a dramatic escalation, particularly in the Gaza Strip. Hamas launched a surprise offensive against Israel, killing and kidnapping civilians. This triggered a military response from Israel that sparked a war in the region.

Evolution
- The war has dragged on with no clear end to the conflict in sight.
- Negotiations for a ceasefire intensified, including agreements involving the release of hostages by Hamas and the gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza.
- In the West Bank, the situation also worsened, with a rise in violence. Additionally, there was an increase in Israeli settler expansions and demolitions of Palestinian homes, further heightening tensions in the region.
